There's some forms you have to learn. Kind of like any combat, I guess.

When you use the forms and gestures right, the bending gets stronger, the way it's supposed to be.

"Civilized"? [That's one way she hasn't heard it described. Fighting is fighting, according to Tenzin. Even if the element of air is associated with a peaceful people.]

I...dunno if that's what you should call it. What do the people in your world fight with?

Some favor the sword and the cannon. Some, the word. Others, God.

[ her family: all of the above.

vanozza tilts her head. ] If not civilized, how should I call it?

Fighting with words? [Kind of funny how she'd put that in the list with the other things.]

I'm not sure. My teacher would probably say something about how fighting isn't the answer.

[ vanozza hums under her breath. ]

They can be quite effective. Words can destroy a man more thoroughly than any poison. A well-placed word can ease tension as it may bare a nerve.

[ she lifts her head just enough to share with korra an impish smile. ]

Though perhaps baring nerves is much simpler.

[Korra's lips twitch into a small smile despite herself. She has a sudden feeling she should be revising her opinion of this seamstress.]

I should probably stick to my bending and fists. I'm not that great at talking my way out of trouble.
